Klüber Summit R series lubricants have been designed especially for highly loaded screw-type and reciprocating piston compressors which are operated with ammonia (R717) or CO2 (R744). These lubricants can also be used with natural hydrocarbon refrigerants like propane (R290), propylene (R1270) or butane (R600). Especially with these refrigerants, the solubility of the gas in the oil under operating conditions and the resulting drop in viscosity has to be taken into account. Klüber Lubrication would be pleased to assist you in selecting the most appropriate oil. Due to the synthetic base oil contained in the Klüber Summit R series lubricants, oil carryover into the refrigeration cycle is much lower than with conventional mineral oils, which helps to reduce oil consumption. The viscosity of the oils remains constant for a long time, due to the fact that only a few highly volatile fractions are contained in the oil. Oil changes due to the increase in viscosity can be extended considerably. The base oil offers high chemical stability, particularly to ammonia, the typical blackening of conventional mineral oils or deposits in the refrigeration cycle are prevented. Our experience gained in practice has shown that Klüber Summit 200 can be used for evaporating temperatures as low as ≥-50°C depending on the operating conditions.

As solvent and detergent: Klüberalfa XZ 3-1 may be used to clean friction points prior to the application of PFPE products such as BARRIERTA L55/2. When used on clean surfaces, both the adhesion and the performance of such lubricants are significantly improved. To attain optimum lubrication results, we recommend cleaning the friction point prior to initial application first with white spirit 180/210 and then with Klüberalfa XZ 3-1. Prior to initial lubrication, the friction point should be bright (i.e. free of any residues) and free of dirt particles. As a dispersant: PFPE greases dispersed with Klüberalfa XZ 3-1 are used for minimum-quantity lubrication of bearings, chains, small gears, seals and many other components. With Klüberalfa XZ 3-1, the active substance content in dispersions of the Klüberalfa product family can be adjusted to individual needs without difficulty. Due to its high dispersive capacity, Klüberalfa XZ 3-1 is used as a flushing fluid to remove used PFPE grease from components that are difficult to clean. The cleaned surfaces remain free of grease and bright. It may be advisable to protect them against corrosion after cleaning. Food-processing and pharmaceutical industries: Klüberalfa XZ 3-1 is NSF H1 registered and therefore complies with FDA 21 CFR § 178.3570. The product was developed for incidental contact with products and packaging materials in the food-processing, cosmetics, pharmaceutical or animal feed industries. The use of Klüberalfa XZ 3-1 can contribute to increase reliability of your production processes. We nevertheless recommend conducting an additional risk analysis, e.g. HACCP.

Klüber Summit SH oils have been designed especially for the lubrication of highly loaded, oil-injected screw-type compressors with oil change intervals up to 10,000 operating hours. Klüber Summit SH oils can also be used for compressors that were previously run with mineral oils. They are neutral towards most elastomer seals used in air compressors, therefore leakage is not to be expected. Klüber Summit SH 32 is especially suitable for centrifugal compressors and Klüber Summit SH 100 for reciprocating piston compressors. Klüber Summit SH oils offer good oxidation stability due to the synthetic base oil, thus minimizing oxidation residues in the compressors and extending oil change intervals and the service life of oil filters and separators. Special inhibitors contained in the oils keep the inside of compressors clean. Owing to the evaporation stability of the base oil, the oil vapour content in the compressed air can be considerably reduced compared to conventional mineral oils. This contributes to a reduction of oil consumption and clean compressed air; gumming of pneumatic valves in the compressed air circuit can be prevented as well due to the low oil content of the Klüber Summit SH oils.

Klüber Summit Ultima oils have been especially designed for screw-type compressors subject to high loads. They are used for oil change intervals up to 12,000 operating hours in oilinjected screw-type compressors. Klüber Summit Ultima oils can be used for compressors that were previously run with mineral oils. Klüber Summit Ultima oils are neutral towards most elastomer seals used in air compressors, therefore leakage is not to be expected. Klüber Summit Ultima oils offer better oxidation stability than conventional synthetic oils due to the synthetic base oil content, thus minimising oxidation residues in the compressors and extending oil change intervals and the service life of oil filters and separators. Special inhibitors contained in the oil keep the inside of compressors clean and ensure a high efficiency. Owing to the evaporation stability of the base oil, the oil vapour content in the compressed air can be reduced several-fold compared to conventional mineral oils. This contributes to a reduction of oil consumption and clean compressed air; it also helps to prevent the gumming of pneumatic valves in the compressed air circuit.
