Industrial lubricants

Selection guide: how to choose the right lubricant
- Check OEM requirements. Look up DIN/ISO, AGMA, Flender/SEW and machine-specific approvals.
- Determine viscosity & temperature. Select ISO VG based on start/operating temps and design.
- Choose base oil & additives. PAO/PG for long life/extremes; mineral for standard duty. Consider lubricant additives (AW/EP, anti-oxidants, anti-foam) required by the application.
- Environment & compliance. For food & water-adjacent areas, pick NSF H1 or EU Ecolabel/EAL grades.
Common mistake: Don’t mix polyglycol with mineral/PAO; flush first. Check seal compatibility (NBR/FKM/PTFE).
Specific use-cases
Treadmill & workshop
Treadmill lubricant: use a silicone-based dry lubricant that doesn’t attract dust. For general workshop tasks a universal lubricant or lubricant spray can be convenient, but industry applications need application-specific products.
Chains & open gears
Minimise fling-off with an adhesive lubricant. For high temperature conveyors, pick low-evaporation chain oils.
Bearings & grease nipples
Match NLGI class and base-oil viscosity. For humid conditions, a water-resistant Ca- or Al-complex grease helps.
Food-grade & environmentally friendly options
