It start with the mineral oil range is the fraction of naturally occurring crude oil with the right properties for lubricating engines. Combined with an optimised additive technology Shell Rimula mineral oil products provide robust engine oils for use in a range of vehicles. These oils are all products to Shell Rimula R4.
The next level are the Shell Rimula ‘synthetic technology’ oils. They make use of both synthetic and mineral base stocks to achieve higher performance levels than can be formulated from mineral oils alone. This range is called the Shell Rimula R5.
Finally the ultimate top range the Shell Rimula R6 fully synthetic motor oils. They are manufactured from 100% synthetic base stock like the Shell GTL base oils. Together with high quality additives Shell Rimula R6 oils achieve higher performance levels than both synthetic technology and mineral oils.
